Cricket-Gillespie shines as Australia restrict South Africa
Australia`s Jason Gillespie made a triumphant return to international cricket on Friday, taking three wickets to help restrict South Africa to 226 for eight in their second limited-overs match.
Playing for the first time since fracturing his leg and
wrist in a collision with Steve Waugh 11 months ago, Gillespie took three for 40 from 10 overs in the indoor match at the Dockland’s Stadium.
Gillespie clean bowled Jacques Kallis for 22 in his first spell, then returned to pick up the wickets of all-rounders Lance Klusener and Shaun Pollock as the proteas collapsed. Part-timers Andrew Symonds and Ian Harvey both collected two wickets apiece as the visitors slumped to 95 for four before Jonty Rhodes and wicketkeeper her rescued them with a fifth wicket stand of 87.
Rhodes top-scored with 54 despite batting with a runner after injuring his groin midway through his innings. Boucher contributed 51 after being dropped by Michael Bevan on five. Bureau Report
