Senior Congress leader Vasant Sathe has said the vexed issue of women's reservation could be solved by increasing the size of Lok Sabha by thirty three per cent and reserving the same exclusively for them.

“The best way to increase (the size of the Lok Sabha) would be to add thirty three per cent to the present number and reserve it entirely for women,” he said in an informal discussion conducted by Development and Research Services (DRS) on women's reservation and delimitation of constituencies.

The present Lok Sabha does not fully represent the population which has grown three times but at the same time undue weightage should not be given to the population in the north for the purpose of deciding the number of seats because it would put a premium on default on family planning.

He said that by employing this method the present male dominated constituencies will not be adversely affected.
