Rajasthan government-sponsored Rajya Bunkar Sahkari Sangh, has prepared a plan to provide employment opportunities to 10,000 handloom weavers reeling under famine conditions, as informed by its chairman Radheyshyam Singh Tanwar, on Tuesday.
“The Sangh will provide yarn to the weavers at concessional
rates and make arrangements for sale of their products,” Tanwar informed.
“The sale of the products of the weavers would be ensured
on ‘profit no loss’ basis through consumer stores, marketing
cooperative committees, Gram Seva Sahkari Samitis and the sale centres of the Sangh,” he said.
The Sangh has sought an assistance of Rs.two crores from the National Cooperative Corporation for implementation of the plan.
Tanwar said that 150 of the total 500 weavers’ cooperative committees have been closed, hence efforts would be made to revive them. The first state level convention of weavers would be held next month in Jaipur, to discuss their problems. Bureau Report
