Mumbai: There seems to be a strange equation between Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar! The two will be working on films based on the same subject – Battle of Saragarhi – and if the latest buzz is anything to go by, then Ajay ended up buying the official rights to the real-life story of JS Gill who rescued his team trapped in a coal mine.

Interestingly, Akshay was keen to acquire the rights to the film, a report in DNA suggests.

“Last week Akshay heard the Raniganj Coalfield rescue mission story (1969), where 64 miners were trapped in a coal mine hundreds of feet underground, and was keen to act in it. He was in the process of acquiring the rights to the film when he learned that Ajay has already acquired the official rights for the story from JS Gill (currently based in Amritsar) who rescued his team at the Raniganj coal mines,” DNA quoted a source as saying.

Ajay and Akshay, who have worked with each other in the past, are apparently busy with their respective projects. While Ajay will be producing, directing and acting in – ‘Sons of Sardaars’ – based on the Battle Of Saragarhi’, Akki will be acting in the project (inspired by the same subject) produced by Salman Khan and Karan Johar.

Well, it would be interesting to see who gets to make the film first!
