With Sidharth Malhotra-Manoj Bajpayee starrer 'Aiyaary' and Hollywood flick 'Black Panther' releasing today, 'Padmaavat' has lost many screens at the Box Office. Despite this, the film is expected to cross Rs 270 crore-mark.

The Bhansali's costume drama is made at a budget of Rs 180 crore.

Produced under the banners of Sanjay Leela Bhansali productions and Viacom 18, the film features Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji, Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmavati and Shahid Kapoor as Mahrawal Ratan Singh.

'Padmaavat' had faced massive protests from certain fringe groups across the nation who demanded a pan India ban on the period drama. However, the film finally saw the light of the day on January 25, 2018, amid much hullaballoo and emerged victorious at the Box Office.

It is based on the epic poem 'Padmavat' by Malik Muhammad Jayasi and narrates the story of Padmavati, a Rajput queen who committed 'Jauhar' to protect herself from Khilji.
