The actor will be seen opposite Varun Sharma in the film, which releases on May 11 this year. However, the film will face a Box Office clash with Alia Bhatt-Vicky Kaushal-starrer 'Raazi' that releases on the same date.

Directed by Abhishek Dogra, 'Fry Dry' is a comic caper whereas Alia's film is an espionage thriller. In the film, Alia will be seen in the role of a Kashmiri girl who is married to a Pakistani man during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971. The movie is based on the best-selling book by Harinder Sikka titled 'Calling Sehmat'.

Govinda was last seen in 'Aa Gaya Hero' which proved to be a disaster at the Box Office. Earlier, Alia had stated in an interview to a daily that she considers Govinda and Karishma Kapoor as her biggest inspiration and that she too wants to join the league of comedy actors one day.

Years back in 2014, director Vikas Bahl of 'Queen' fame had planned to bring Govinda and Alia together in his film. However, things could not go as planned after Govinda refused to play father to Alia in 2015-released 'Shaandaar' that also starred Shahid Kapoor.
