The Rajiev Dhingra directorial, which was initially slated to release on November 24, took Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati slot after getting a clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification.
Firangi, a film set in the backdrop of Punjab during the British rule in India, also stars Drishyam girl Ishita D utta and Monica Gill.
Ritika Handoo of Zeenews.com is all set to watch first day first show to review Kapil’s film for you all. You can take a look at it here:
Firangi is a very important film in Kapil’s career primarily because it happens to be his first venture as a Bollywood producer and second film as an actor. He produced the film on his own because he didn’t want to compromise on quality. He has worked really very hard to exhibit his unseen talent as a versatile actor.
The film has been shot extensively on the banks of the river Sutlej in Punjab. The sets of the film were built with the help of local craftsman, labourers and carpenters. It took a great amount of time, efforts and hard work to deliver a set that establish the look of the villages before the partition of India i.e., during the times of the British. The film also stars Edward Sonnenblick, Kumud Mishra, Rajesh Sharma, Inaamulhaq, Aanjjan Srivastav, Jameel Khan and Vishal O Sharma.
During an interaction with India.com, an elated Kapil said, “Salman bhai pleasantly surprised me. He had already seen the Frirangi trailer and even before I could talk about the film, he congratulated me.”
“He said that he loved the production value and loved the fact that I was not just sticking to comedy,” he added.
“Salman bhai pointed out that the best part about Firangi is I have moved away from what the audience would already be expecting from me. They will go in or ignore the film thinking that it is yet another comedy affair since that’s all they have seen me doing so far. But in Firangi, they will get to see me doing more than just cracking jokes or acting funny and witty,” Kapil said.
Kapil made his acting debut with Abbas-Mustan’s Kis Kisko Pyar Karoon in 2015.
