Mumbai: Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi’ has some fine performers in the star cast. And now method actor Atul Kulkarni has been roped in to play a pivotal role in the film based on Rani Lakshmibai.

The National Award winning actor, who has done a variety of challenging roles in the past, will essay the role of Ramchandra Pandurang Tope also known as Tatya Tope, the Rani’s aide, who was instrumental in recapturing the city of Gwalior from the British.


According to a report in DNA, Kulkarni said, “This is something I’ve never done before. I am doing all my sword fighting stunts myself. My body-double hired to do the stunts just sits around on the sets doing nothing.”


Recently, during a training session in sword fighting, Kangana ended up injuring herself badly. She was rushed to the hospital immediately. She bled profusely and got 15 stitches on her head.


The film directed by Krish and jointly produced by Zee Studious, Kamal Jain and Nishant Pitti, will mark the Bollywood debut of TV actress Ankita Lokhande.


The epic film will release on April 27, 2018.
