New Delhi: Gold prices moved higher by Rs 179 to Rs 28,136 per 10 grams in futures trade Friday as speculators widened their bets taking positive cues from the global market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold for delivery in February rose by Rs 179 to trade at Rs 28,136 per 10 grams.

However, gold remained steady at Rs 29,000 per 10 grams in Delhi bullion market today amid scattered deals.

Analysts said fresh positions created by participants following a better trend in global market and weakening dollar, supported the upside in gold futures here.

Globally, gold quoted up by 0.28 percent at USD 1,174.90 an ounce in Singapore.

In the national capital, gold of 99.9 percent and 99.5 percent purity ruled steady at Rs 29,000 and Rs 28,850 per 10 grams, respectively. It had lost Rs 450 in last two days.
