New Delhi: Road Ministry has asked taxi aggregators Ola and Uber to use taxi meters for calculation of fares and shun away the current practice of using GPS to do such, according to a report published in Economic Times.

The report says that the government has asked these companies to abide by the Motor Vehicles Act that clearly directs usage of taxi meter for calculation of fares.

The government, on basis of feedback received, feels that GPS doesn't accurately calculate the distance travelled.
