Mahindra e-Verito electric sedan to be launched in India on June 2
The only electric car manufacturer in the country, Mahindra Reva will be launching the e-Verito on June 2, 2016. The sedan will be their second all-electric offering after the e2o hatchback.
After the crackdown on diesel vehicles in Delhi, Kerala followed suit soon. Now, the NGT is considering implementing a similar ban in 11 other cities.
Mahindra, alongside Mercedes-Benz and Toyota, have been among the worst hit by the blanket ban. While the Indian auto giant circumvented the ban by introducing a 1.99-litre variant of the mHawk engine, the electric vehicle seems to be a better long term solution.
Showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo earlier this year, the electric avatar of Mahindra's Verito sedan shares its underpinnings with the Renault Logan just like the diesel variant.
Just like the e2o, the e-Verito runs purely on electricity. It is powered by a 3-phase 72V electric motor that produces 41PS of power and 91Nm of torque. Now, that doesn't really sound like a lot, but we reckon it is more than adequate for the city use it is meant to tackle.
Speaking of usage, expect a range of around 100 kms on a single charge (e2o = 120kms). Charging the batteries on the sedan from zero will take approximately seven to eight hours. Mahindra will enable a fast charge option for the e-Verito as well, that will reduce charging time to one and a half hour.
We expect prices to start at approximately Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). It will be offered in three variants viz. D2, D4 and D6. It looks exactly like the standard Verito and will feature updated interiors.
