Kharar, July 11: A local court today rejected the
application moved by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) to
search, in the presence of a magistrate, a resort in Gurgaon
and farms at Sirsa, allegedly owned by the family members of
former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) Baljinder Kaur
Bhatia, while rejecting the VB plea, observed that there was
no necessity of a magistrate to remain present during
inspection/search of both the Badal family's premises - Orbit
Resort Ltd, Gurgaon, and Badal farms in Balasar (Sirsa).
The court also observed that since the police have ample
powers to conduct inspection/search as per the orders issued
by the court on July 4, there was no ground to accept the VB
request.
The VB sleuths had moved the application under section 103
of the CRPC before the court on Wednesday seeking necessary
directions for the execution of search warrants pertaining to
both the Badal family's premises in connection with a case of
cheating, forgery, criminal conspiracy, corruption and
disproportionate assets case registered against Badal and
others at Mohali on June 24.
