New Delhi: Coming forth and supporting government's gold monetisation scheme, eight temples of the country have donated gold deposits under the scheme, the most coming from Tamil Nadu. As per rough estimates about 20,000 tonnes of gold is lying in the temples and households in the country.


In total, four temples from Tamil Nadu, two from Maharashtra, and one each from Andhra Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir have deposited their gold under the scheme.


About 2,820 kilograms of gold have been mobilised under the scheme.
