Srinagar, Apr 28 : Jammu and Kashmir people's democratic forum, an ally in the state overnment, today submitted a memorandum to centre's interlocutor N N Vohra, calling for debate and dialogue with all sections of people, including separatists, to bring peace to the state. Asserting that the road to peace has to be built on a continuing process of debate and dialogue, the JKPDF said "patience and perseverance" will be required in carrying on with talks to find a lasting solution. "The centre needs to take fresh initiatives and imaginative measures to abandon beaten tracks and build new paths," JKPDF said in the memorandum."This course is, no doubt, arduous, full of difficulties, beset with ups and downs and may not give overnight results but a meaningful dialogue with the representatives of the people, the separatists and others can certainly pave the way for a fresh beginning," it said. It said the solution to the Kashmir problem should be such that it strengthens the unity among the people of the three regions of the state. Opposing strikes on militant camps across the border, the party said the role of the Government of India at this juncture assumes grave significance."The question of restoration of peace in the state is inseparably linked with an enduring peace in the sub-continent. In this context, talking of pre-emptive strikes against a neighbouring country may only complicate the situation, thus creating further impediments in the path of a lasting settlement of issues," it said.
