New Delhi: Gold prices fell by Rs 72 to Rs 25,275 per 10 grams in futures trade Tuesday as participants trimmed their positions.


At the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold for delivery in December contracts was trading Rs 72 or 0.28 percent lower at Rs 25,275 per 10 grams.


Market analysts said the fall in gold futures was mostly in tune with a weak trend overseas and profit-booking by speculators.


Gold in Singapore, which normally sets price trend on the domestic front, retreated as much as 0.29 percent to USD 1,079 an ounce.


Delhi


In the national capital, gold of 99.9 and 99.5 percent purity tumbled by Rs 450 each to Rs 25,700 and Rs 25,550 per 10 grams, respectively, a level last seen on July 20.


In tune with gold, silver ready fell by Rs 500 to Rs 34,100 per kg and weekly-based delivery by Rs 620 to Rs 33,640 per kg.
