Pune, May 28: President A P J Abdul Kalam today made an appeal to the government, industry and academicians to take initiatives to spread information technology for better education and healthcare facilities. Stating that 70 per cent of people in India lived in villages, Kalam called for making Information Technology suitable for country's needs.
He was speaking after dedicating to the nation the International Institute of Information Technology, a premier institute for advanced education and research in Information Technology, at the Infotech Park at Hinjewadi here. Kalam expressed hope that India's scientific laboratory and IT establishment would turn into international research centres not only for the country but also for the whole world. Bureau Report
