New Delhi: Looking to elevate its positioning as an aspiring brand, telecom devices maker Huawei Monday entered into wearable segment in India with premium sapphire crystal coated smartwatch for Rs 22,999.
"We are seeing smart wearable to be brand enabler for Huawei rather than focusing on volumes. Through Huawei watch, launched today, we are targeting premium watch buyers as it has been build as Swiss watches are made," Huawei India, Vice President - Sales for Consumer Business, P Sanjeev said here.
The watch features a fully circular 1.4-inch touch-sensitive Amoled display, coated in scratch-proof sapphire crystal, a cold-forged stainless steel frame and comes with a built-in heart rate monitor and 6-Axis motion sensors with a gyroscope and accelerometer that can track physical activities.
"There are over 130 components in this watch and over 160 steps involved in making this watch are done by hands. Being a smartwatch, its user can choose from 40 pre-loaded watch faces and rest can be downloaded," Sanjeev said.
The Huawei watch, built on Android platform, supports alerts for calls, texts, instant messages and emails. The water resistant watch can connect with mobile phone through bluetooth and wifi. The display has 10,000:1 contrast ratio.
"We expect to have at least three models in our portfolio for India in next three months. The model launched today targets men but we will soon get a version for women. At present, it is available on Flipkart but in a month we will start showcasing on premium outlets in 30 cities," Sanjeev added.
