Chandigarh, May 14: The CBI and police today remained clueless about the whereabouts of first class judicial magistrate S S Bhardwaj who escaped from custody on Sunday shortly after his arrest in a corruption case. Police sources said they drew a blank from a number of places they suspected Bhardwaj could be hiding.

Efforts were on to nab him, they said.

CBI sources declined to divulge any details about the case.

The investigating agency had arrested Bhardwaj on Saturday night for allegedly taking Rs seven lakhs as bribe from a litigant on behalf of district and sessions judge R M Gupta was also arrested and remanded to CBI custody till Friday.

Both have been suspended by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
