Apple unveils iPhones 6S, 6S Plus with '3D Touch'


In September, Tim Cook unveiled two new iPhones, the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, a large screen display handsets with a new pressure-sensitive display with '3D Touch' gestures.

"What we have to show you today is really awesome. While they may look familiar, we have changed everything about these new iPhones," CEO Tim Cook said during the launch event at San Francisco's large Bill Graham Civic Auditorium.


The new iPhones were launched in India on Oct 16 with a starting price of Rs 62,000 for the 16GB variant.

Microsoft Windows 10


Tech giant Microsoft Corporation unveiled its new operating system, Windows 10 in the month of July replete with a redesigned web browser called Edge and Cortana, a Siri-like voice activated assistant.


With this new product, Microsoft looked towards capturing the market lost to rivals Apple and Google.

Microsoft unveils Surface Book, Surface Pro 4, Lumia 950, Lumia 950XL


In October 2015, Microsoft Corporation unveiled its first ever laptop, the Surface Book which the tech giant says if twice as fast as Apple's MacBook Pro. Along with this, the company also launched the Surface Pro tablet along with Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL.


The laptop is a 13.5-inch display with 267 pixels per inch and features a track pad made of glass while the Surface Pro 4 features a 12.3-inch screen with 267 pixels per inc.

From Camera to smartphone: Kodak launches MI5


Kodak, the once-leading manufacturer of cameras and photographic film products, jumped into the smartphone market by launching its first Android phone, MI5 at the Consumer Electronics Show, 2015 (CES) in Las Vegas.


The MI5 featurs a 5-inch screen with 720x1280p display resolution and is powered by a 1.7GHz octa-core processor along with 1GB of RAM.

Android Marshmallow


In August, internet giant Google revealed the sixth version of its Android operating system, Marshmallow and opened it to app developers for testing. And while it was not available for immediate download then, Google is slowly rolling it out now.


Google Nexus devices and Motorola smartphones were one of the first to experience with the new Android OS.


Some of the major features of Android Marshmallow include Finger sensor, better battery life, App permission, etc.

Samsung launches Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge


The year 2015 was one of the best years of South Korean electronics giant Samsung with the company making three big major launches – the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.


While the Note 5 was launched globally in the month of August, it was made available in India in September with a starting price of Rs 53,999 for the 32GB variant.


The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge were however launched in the month of April with a starting price of Rs 49,900.

Asus launches ZenFone 2 Deluxe, ZenFone Selfie, the ZenFone laser and ZenFone Max


At the ZenFest in August, Taiwanese handset maker Asus launched four new smartphones with a starting price of Rs 9,999.


The festival, held in the national capital Delhi, saw the launch of ZenFone 2 Deluxe, ZenFone 2 Selfie, ZenFone 2 Laser and ZenFone Max.


The Asus ZenFone 2 Deluxe, the costliest of them all at Rs 22,999, comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display and is powered by a 2.3GHz Intel Atom Z3580 quad-core processor with 4GB of RAM.

Make in India: Xiaomi, Asus to manufacture phones in India


Keeping in line with PM Narendra Modi's 'Make in India' initiative, Chinese handset maker Xiaomi and Taiwanese company Asus have decided to manufacture smartphones in India.


The two companies have tied up with another Taiwanese company Foxconn to set up mobile manufacturing units here in India as they look forward to grap a larger share in the Indian smartphone market.


And while Xiaomi has launched its first 'Made in India' smartphone Redmi 2 Prime, Asus is yet to do so.
