HC notice on AVUT`s contempt plea against Uphaar officials
New Delhi, Nov 25: The Delhi High Court issued notices to uphaar cinema general manager and Ansal theatres` director on the plea of Association of Victims of Uphaar Tragedy (AVUT) seeking initiation of contempt proceedings against them for having allegedly filed false affidavits in connection with the payment of Rs 12 crore by the cinema owners to the victims as ordered by the court on April 24.

Issuing the notices to Uphaar General Manager K L
Malhotra and Ansal theatres Director V K Sehgal, a division
bench of Justice Vijender Jain and Justice M A Khan asked them
to file their reply to the petition by January 13, the next
date of hearing.
In its petition filed through counsel K Sultan Singh and Vikas Pahwa, AVUT accused Malhotra and Sehgal of misleading the court and sought initiation of contempt proceedings against the duo. Bureau Report
