Sensex rises 57.73 points to end at new closing peak of 31,804.82; Nifty gains 30.05 to record 9,816.10.
Both BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty move cautiously in range-bound trade ahead of index of industrial production (IIP) data for May and CPI inflation for June, to be released after market closing today.

Gold futures were trading up by 0.33 percent to Rs 27,926 per 10 grams as traders raised bets amid positive cues from the global markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold for delivery in August rose by Rs 92, or 0.33 per cent, to Rs 27,926 per 10 grams.
Gold edged up for a third day on Wednesday on a weaker US dollar while investors awaited testimony from US Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen and central bank officials expressed caution about further interest rate hikes.
Spot gold rose 0.2 percent to USD 1,219.20 per ounce at 0345 GMT, adding to a 0.3 percent gain in the previous session, its biggest rise since June 23. US gold futures for August delivery rose 0.4 percent to USD 1,218.90 per ounce.
BSE Sensex loses some of its momentum but still in green. Last quoted higher by 37.02 points or 0.12 percent at 31,784.11 after moving in range of 31,865.69-31,780.21.
The NSE index Nifty also fails to hold above 9,800-mark. It last traded up by 12.35 points or 0.13 percent at 9,798.40 after making a high of 9,823 and low of 9,791.20 in intra-day trade.
Optimistic buying in blue-chip stocks ahead of index of industrial production (IIP) data for May and CPI inflation for June, to be released after market closing today, drove stocks higher. Major gainers were Reliance Industries, ONGC, Hindustan Unilever and Bharti Airtel, rising by up to 1.86 percent.
The broader 51-scrip Nifty at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) opened at 9.807.30 points after closing at 9,786.05 points.
The Sensex of the BSE after opening at 31,813.24 points, touched a high of 31,825.44 points and a low of 31,789.88 points.
The rupee rose marginally by 8 paise to 64.51 against the US dollar today on increased selling of the greenback by banks and exporters, along with continued foreign funds inflow.
