Sensex bounces over 244 points; Nifty reclaims 9,900-mark

    Sensex rose 244.36 points to end at 31,955.35. Nifty moved up 72.45 points to 9,899.60.

  • NSE Nifty reclaims 9,900-mark

  • BSE Sensex hit intra-day high of 31924.03. NSE Nifty was also at its intra-day high of 9,890.75.

  • Shares of Aurobindo Pharma soared over 8 percent after the company received final approval from the USFDA to manufacture and market Sevelamer Carbonate tablets. The scrip of the drug firm surged 8.27 percent to Rs 794.50 on BSE. At NSE, shares of the company jumped 8.22 percent to Rs 794.70.

  • Markets at day's high. The BSE Sensex was up 200.89 points or 0.63 percent at  31,911.88. Similarly, the NSE Nifty was at 9,886.70, higher by 59.55 points or 0.61 percent.

  • Top gainers and loser on BSE

  • At the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold for delivery in August contracts was quoting higher by Rs 134, or 0.48 percent, at Rs 28,254 per 10 grams.

  • The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market was positive. On BSE, 1,549 shares rose and 784 shares fell. A total of 131 shares were unchanged.

  • Shares of Hindustan Unilever Limited hits 52-week high of 1,195.05 (on NSE) in early trade today. The FMCG major has reported a 9.28 percent increase in standalone net profit at Rs 1,283 crore for the first quarter ended June 30.

  • The BSE 30-share barometer after rising to a high of 31,885.17 at the outset, pared its gains partially to quote 126.17 points, or 0.40 percent up at 31,837.16.

    On similar lines, the NSE Nifty was up 35.55 points or 0.36 percent at 9,862.70 after making a low and high of 9,851.65 and 9,875.60 in intra-day trade earlier.

  • Shares of Aurobindo Pharma (up 4.59 percent) emerged as the top gainer followed by HCL Tech (up 1.65 percent), Lupin (up 1.40 percent), ZEEL (up 1.40 percent) and Sun Pharma (up 1.31 percent) on NSE.

    However, UltraTech Cement (down 1.54 percent), ONGC (down 0.96 percent), ACC (down 0.71 percent), Bajaj Auto (down 0.69 percent) and Infosys (down 0.37 percent) were among top losers.

  • The NSE Nifty too rises 28.80 points or 0.29 percent to 9,855.95 in opening trade.

  • The BSE benchmark Sensex recovers 171.81 points or 0.54 percent to 31,882.80 in opening trade.

  • The BSE benchmark Sensex and the NSE Nifty likely to bounce back from their yesterday's losses today amid upbeat global sentiment.

    In Asia, investor sentiment has been supported by a raft of upbeat economic news out of China. Shanghai`s blue-chip CSI300 index rose 1 percent and back toward an 18-month peak, while Australia`s main index added 0.6 percent.

    Wall Street had ended Tuesday mixed after a heavy dose of corporate earnings, with the Dow dragged by Goldman Sachs but the Nasdaq reaching a record high. The Dow fell 0.25 percent, while the S&P 500 gained 0.06 percent and the Nasdaq 0.47 percent.
