New Delhi: In a bid to digitize mandis across the country, prime minister Narendra Modi will launch a National Agriculture Market (NAM) portal on Thursday, in a bid to enable 21 mandis across 8 states attempt e-trading on a pilot basis.


It will help these mandis to connect with other mandis inside the same state. However, the initiative is limited the mandis inside a state and not at national level.


Gujarat, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh are the 12 states choses for the pilot basis. The government has listed 25 commodities, including wheat, maize, chana, jowar, bajra, potato and cotton to be traded with NAM.
