Jakarta, Sept 01: External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha today held "warm and cordial" talks on counter-terrorism and a range of other issues with an Indonesian government delegation, an Indian Embassy official said.
Sinha and about 13 other Indian government and industry representatives met for more than four hours with an Indonesian governmental delegation of more than 30 officials, said Amar Sinha, deputy chief of the Indian Embassy in Jakarta.
Sinha is on a two-day visit to Indonesia. "It went off very well ... Very warm and cordial," Amar Sinha said from the central Java city of Yogyakarta shortly after the meeting, known as the India-Indonesia joint commission.
He said issues under discussion included trade, investment, defence and security, as well as counter-terrorism. The joint commission, formed more than a year ago to review bilateral relations, is headed by Yaswant Sinha and his Indonesian counterpart, Hassan Wirayuda.
Amar Sinha said the Indian delegation would leave Yogyakarta tomorrow morning for the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, to hold a scheduled mid-morning meeting with Indonesian President Megawati Sukarnoputri.
The minister is scheduled to fly home mid-afternoon tomorrow. Bureau Report
