New Delhi, Oct 24: Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today said a grand memorial will be set up for Dr B R Ambedkar at his house at Alipur road here. He was speaking to a delegation of representatives of Dr Ambedkar Foundation and various other Dalit organisations who felicitated him on successful acquisition of the 26, Alipur road property for setting up a national memorial to Ambedkar.

Describing Ambedkar as a great personality, Vajpayee said he took up the task of social change at a very difficult time and showed a new path. He also felt that some sort of rethinking was needed in the country on the issue of memorials. The memorials may be few in number, but each memorial should be a grand one, he said adding there was no dearth of money but what was required was dedication and hard work.

Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Satyanarain Jatia and noted Dalit writer Sohan Pal Sumanakshar were prominent among those present on the occasion. Bureau Report
