New Delhi: Absconding liquor baron Vijay Mallya had quietly sold two properties worth several crore before Enforcement Directorate's move to attach his properties to the tune of Rs 1,411 crore, as per a newspaper report.
A report in the Times of India said, of the two properties sold by Mallya, one is “located in Coorg, while the other is close by”.
ED is now trying to find out whether “Mallya received money from the sales and if it has been remitted to him or his firms aboad”, the TOI further said.
Mallya issued a statement yesterday saying that there was no misappropriation or diversion of funds provided by banks and he was pained to read reports about the agencies planning an action against him.
He further stated "it surely appears as if these agencies are pursuing a heavily biased investigation and are already holding me guilty without trial after which I need to prove my innocence".
