New Delhi: Fearing likely resistance from unions, the Union Cabinet has decided not to accept two of the key recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission.

According to a report published in The Hindu, the suggestions included – no more setting up of pay commissions and its replacement with a performance-linked appraisal system.

The Hindu further reports a senior Finance Ministry official saying that the suggestion to rationalize pays and link them to performance has not been accepted.
With this the hopes of those who were batting for rationalization of pays and introduction of meritocracy have been completely dashed now.
