Lucknow, Mar 29: The BJP high command has called a meeting of party workers and MLAs of Uttar Pradesh in New Delhi on April 1 to review the performance of the BSP-BJP coalition government in the state. The BJP's state unit had requested the party high command to convene a meeting of state leaders and MLAs to give them an audience in view of the infighting and aggressive postures being adopted by some of them at different fora within the party and outside, party sources said here today.
The meeting, to be held at the residence of party president M Venkaiah Naidu, is likely to discuss the problems of the legislators in their respective districts.
"BJP's central leadership is fully aware that the party has not managed to keep its interests intact in UP as is being done by its coalition partner, the BSP but it is also fully aware that this government needs to work with an eye on the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, the sources said adding that the meeting was a step towards educating the state leaders in this light.
