Zee Media Bureau
New Delhi: As a direct fallout of brexit on the British currency, tourism packages to the United Kingdom have become cheaper in India.
The value of pound sterling vis-a-vis Indian rupee has fallen to Rs 87.30 against Rs 101 of pre-brexit period.
As per industry reports, a five day to week-long packages to the UK have reportedly come down by 5 percent to 10 percent. As per tour and package operators, the cost of land packages in the UK, minus the airfare and visa cost, has come down. While, the tour operators keep reviewing their prices based on their costs involved, India-London return airfares remain unchanged in the range of Rs 45,000-55,000 as the fixed costs of airlines do not vary due to fluctuation in the currency rates.
Traditionally, UK has been the most popular outbound destination in India, and with falling British currency, tour operators are expecting a surge in traffic in the coming days.
