New Delhi: On the back of high production in fertilizer and electricity sector, growth of the eight core sector rose by 3.2 percent in September as compared to the 2.6 percent growth in August.


As per government data released Monday, electricity and fertilizer production grew 10.8 percent and 18.1 percent respectively while that of steel, oil and cement production fell 2.5 percent. 0.1 percent and 1.5 percent, respectively.


The production of coal, gas and petroleum refinery products however grew between 0.5 percent and 1.9 percent, as per the data.


In the month of August, growth in the eight core sector had slowed to 2.6 percent due to low steel output which declined to 5.9 percent as against a positive growth of 9.4 percent in August 2014.


Growth in other sectors such as Coal, cement and electricity also slowed down to 0.4 percent, 5.4 percent and 5.6 percen respectively.
