Industrial production growth slows to four-month low of 3.6% in September
Industrial output, measured in terms of the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), was at 4 percent in the April-September period against 2.9 percent in the year-ago period, the data released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) Thursday showed.

New Delhi: India's industrial growth slowed to 3.6 percent in September compared to nearly three-year high of 6.4 percent in August.
Industrial output, measured in terms of the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), was at 4 per cent in the April-September period against 2.9 percent in the year-ago period, the data released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) Thursday showed.

The factory output had grown by 2.6 percent in September last year.
The manufacturing sector, which constitutes over 75 percent of the index, grew by 2.6 percent in September, 2015 against 2.7 percent in the same month last year.
During April-August period, manufacturing sector grew at 4.2 percent as compared to 2.2 percent growth in same period a year ago. The mining sector growth was at 3 percent in September against 0.1 percent in the same month last fiscal.
The output of consumer non-durable goods contracted 4.6 percent in the month under review against a growth of 1.3 percent in September 2014.

Capital goods output, a barometer of investment, grew at 10.5 percent against a growth of 12.3 percent in the same month last year.
Power generation grew at 11.4 percent in September against 3.9 percent in the same month a year ago.
