New Delhi: Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu wishes he could bring the turnaround in Indian Railways as quickly as someone in the business of serving noodles or instant tea.

While presenting a talk at a TEDx event using the TED conference format earlier in April, he also added that though he is in sarkaar (governance), he would not mind being a Sarkaar, alluding to the famed magician PC Sorcar, for quickly transforming the face of Railways.

He said that the behemoth is "investing money in areas where quick benefits will come". "When I say quick, it means three-five years". The aim will be to change the system like, decongest railway lines, increase safety, improve customer service, bring in transparency in the whole system.

Indian Railways is going to invest $140 billion in the next 5 years, and most of the investment will be in in customer service, whether it is food, linen, reservation system, or the interiors of the train or railway stations, all of it put together, said the Minister.
