New Delhi: Indian Railways is pitching for complete transparency, and would soon make the entire process of awarding contracts online.

Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu, while speaking at an event in Delhi, said that, while the procurement and submission of tendering documents are on e-platform, the process of awarding contract will be online soon.

It is expected that e-tendering will make the contracts transparent, and would enable detection of overpricing to include bribes.

In the past, Railways has been in the news for a number of corruption related cases--from paying for a job to freight scam, land acquisition violations to poor quality of locomotives.
