New Delhi, May 24: Unfazed by the decision of the
coalition partner RLD to withdraw its five ministers from the
BSP-BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, chief minister Mayawati
today decided to continue with her five-nation tour beginning
tomorrow to woo investments in the state.
"There is no change in her schedule....There is no threat
to Mayawati government in the state. She enjoys majority in
the state assembly", party spokesman said in the wake of
14-mla today deciding to withdraw its ministers from the
Mayawati government.
Mayawati will visit Britain, Canada, the United States,
France and Switzerland and hold discussions with NRI’s and
other foreign investors. She will also participate in several
programmes organised by different industrial organisations.
Ajit Singh, the RLD chief who was holding agriculture ministry in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, yesterday quit the Union Cabinet accusing the BJP-led NDA government of ignoring interest of the farmers in the country.
Earlier, Mayawati spoke to BJP President Venkaiah Naidu and told him that the BSP-BJP coalition has "sufficient" numbers in the state assembly and there was no problem to the state government.
The chief minister, who is in the national capital before departing for her foreign sojourn, was not available to media for any comments. Bureau Report
