New Delhi: Apple is not going to find taping the high-potential Indian smartphone market a cakewalk!


According to reports, the government in India has refused the US-based tech company to import and sell refurbished iPhones in the country.


Indian smartphone market is up 23 percent, but the buyers are highly cost sensitive.


Indian smartphone industry, especially the local smartphone manufacturers like Micromax, Intex had strongly opposed allowing Apple to sell refurbished phones in the country.

The company currently controls less than 2 percent of the Indian smartphone market.


Apple sees a "huge market potential" for its products in India and the technology giant is "really putting energy" in the country which will begin rolling out high-speed wireless networks this year, CEO Tim Cook said in CNBC interview.
