These social media apps continuously bring in new features so that you can customise your usage.


Here are six WhatsApp features that can help you a lot.


Star message


This is a very useful feature to save your media files.  It works exactly like a bookmark or a favorite. So you can just use this button to read your files, chats later.


Back up chat to Google Drive


This is like any other back up that you have –from computer back ups, to file back ups, to picture back ups etc. You can back up your chats on Google Drive so that if you have a new phone or your phone has been lost, you can always retrieve your chat. All you have to do is go to chat setting back up and get Google Drive settings.


Delete unwanted chat


Don't you want a clutter free space? This is the next step to follow after you have saved your chat on Google Drive. Just go to setting, chat history and delete those unwanted chats as well as the ones you have already saved.


Mark as read unread


At some point of time, all of you must have faced this situation. You must have read a chat and then forgot to reply. And since you have already read the chat, it will not keep reminding you through notifications. What do you do then? Very easy. Just mark it as unread and you can follow it up anytime you want.


Use the custom notification for group


All of us have several groups on WhatsApp, some of them are important, some not so important and some most important group. You can contact the alert notification in a different way for each group. All you need to do is set the the notifications as per your need. For example you can have different tone, vibration effect, popup notification for different group.


Link Previews


WhatsApp too has link previews like Facebook and Twitter. When you paste a link, you also have this option to see the preview of the headline like the image of the article, the URL etc.
