Pune, Aug 02: Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani today made a scathing attack on the Congress-NCP government in Maharashtra saying people were "thoroughly dissatisfied" with it and waiting for a change. "The common man in Maharashtra is waiting for a political change. People seek change when they are dissatisfied with the incumbent regime and there is severe dissatisfaction in the state," he said addressing a rally of party workers here.

Referring to a memorandum submitted by party workers to him on atrocities on dalits, Advani said, "I was shocked that such incidents happen in Maharashtra also."

He said that while people were initially doubtful about survival of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, with several coalition partners, "after five years they feel the government has performed an extraordinary feat in its smooth and successful functioning and a number of achievements."
The Deputy Prime Minister said that the NDA government had strengthened federalism in the country.

Asserting there was a "feel good factor" throughout the country, he expressed the hope that people would repose full faith in the BJP under Vajpayee's leadership.
He said that in the past five years, the government has done "commendable" work in areas of development, security, health care and education.

BJP national vice president Gopinath Munde and other state leaders were also present. Later, Advani inaugurated the Kriplani and Kumudanani Eye Institute at the Sadhuvaswani Medical Complex here.
