New Delhi: Sundar Pichai on Thursday revealed that as a child he wanted to be a cricketer and that he was a huge fan of the game but fate had other plans.


“I did dream of being a cricketer like so many Indians,” the Google CEO revealed while addressing students at Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University on Thursday.

He also revealed that he revered legends like Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar.


“I used to be a huge fan of (Sunil) Gavaskar when he was playing and later, Sachin (Tendulkar) when he played. I always had a dream," he said.


The 43-year old IIT-Kharagpur alumni admitted that he enjoys watching test and one-day cricket matches. However, he said he did not favour the faster format of T20 matches.

The Google CEO also took time off to play cricket at the India Gate on Thursday.
