TCS wins the National Intellectual Property Award 2016
India`s leading global IT services provider, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) was on Tuesday conferred with the prestigious National Intellectual Property Award 2016.

New Delhi: India's leading global IT services provider, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) was on Tuesday conferred with the prestigious National Intellectual Property Award 2016.
In addition to the award, both the Indian Intellectual Property Office and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) have jointly conferred the company with the WIPO Award for Innovative Enterprise, a press statement said.
Hon'ble Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Govt. Of India, presented both the awards to TCS at a function organized by the Indian Intellectual Property Office and Confederation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CII), the statement said.
Speaking about the award Santosh Mohanty, Global Head - Components Engineering group, TCS said, "We are honored to receive both these esteemed awards. TCS continuously strives to create innovative solutions and re-imagine technologies to provide the best experiences for its customers. These awards bolster our beliefs and encourage us to do even better."
The Indian Intellectual property office confers national intellectual property awards on outstanding organizations and companies in the fields of patents, designs, trademarks and geographical indications on the occasion of World IP Day every year.
The National IP Award carries an amount of Rs. 100,000, a citation and a memento. The WIPO award comprises a trophy and a citation.
K Ananth Krishnan, Chief Technology Officer, TCS said, "Innovation is in the DNA of the company. The company provides an intellectually stimulating environment with mentorship by experts to encourage innovation."
TCS continues to be one of the world leaders in creating cutting edge innovation and has applied for 2,842 patents, including 260 applied during the last quarter. Till date, the company has been granted 341 patents.
