Telecom operator Vodafone today said it will expand its 4G network to cover entire Delhi-NCR in the next 6-8 weeks at par with its 3G service charges.
New Delhi: Telecom operator Vodafone today said it will expand its 4G network to cover entire Delhi-NCR in the next 6-8 weeks at par with its 3G service charges.
With this, Vodafone will become the second player offering 4G services to customers in Delhi-NCR after Bharti Airtel.
"We will provide 4G coverage across Delhi NCR in 6-8 weeks. Customers can avail the service at 3G rates. On Vodafone network, we will be delivering download speed of 8-10 megabit per second," Vodafone India Business Head for Delhi- NCR Apoorva Mehrotra told reporters here.
Present offerings of Vodafone in Delhi NCR include 1GB 3G mobile internet data for Rs 255, 2GB for Rs 455 and unlimited starting Rs 655 for 3GB.
Mehrotra said that Vodafone has made investments of over Rs 1,000 crore to upgrade its network and crossed 1 crore customers in the Delhi-NCR region now.
"We have installed 3,200 mobile sites in financial year 2016 at the rate of 9 sites per day. Vodafone has more than 15,000 sites in Delhi NCR," he said.
On call drop problem, Mehrotra said that it was an issue 7-8 months back but the company has made significant improvement with the help of Telecom Ministry which has written to local authorities for allowing installation of mobile towers.
He said the government has also supported the industry in allaying fears of people with regard to mobile tower radiation causing health hazards.
"Still we are finding it tough to install mobile sites in new buildings that are coming up in NCR region as resident welfare associations resist installing mobile towers. We have faced issues in Lutyen Delhi area and East Delhi and we are working to resolve it," Mehrotra said.
The company also unveiled special scheme, Vodafone U, targeting youth, offering calling and data usage at reduced rates.
