Jammu, Mar 01: Stating that his government was making efforts to ensure ‘safe and honourable’ return of Kashmiri Pandits, Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayed today announced a scheme to construct residential areas for them with adequate security arrangements. "Without Kashmiri Pandits, Kashmir is missing something," Syed said addressing Kashmiri Pandits at Purkhoo and Muthi migrant camps, which he visited on the occasion of Mahashivratri festival. "My effort is to create conducive conditions for restoration of lasting peace in the state which will facilitate dignified return of migrants to their homes," he said.
Syed said a scheme is being formulated for the purpose under which multi-storeyed houses would be constructed at Mattan and Khirbhawani in the first instance with adequate security for the Kashmiri Pandits. Stressing that he was "fully conscious" of their problems Syed assured the community that the migrant youth who would return to the Valley would be provided jobs.
He said his government is determined to bring a turn around in the situation by addressing the problem of alienation and development. The chief minister visited the migrant camps despite inclement weather and greeted Kashmiri Pandits on Mahashivratri.
