Baghdad, July 10: Three US soldiers were killed and another was wounded overnight in separate attacks in Iraq, US military officials told a news agency today, as anti-American violence showed no sign of abating. Two soldiers were killed in the town of Mahmudiyah, south of Baghdad, when they were ambushed with small arms fire at around 6:30 PM (1800 hrs IST) yesterday, sergeant Patrick Compton said. He did not elaborate. A separate Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) attack on a US convoy in Saddam Hussein's hometown of Tikrit, 175 kilometers north of the capital, at around 10:30 PM ( 0000 hrs IST) yesterday killed one soldier and wounded another, specialist Nicci Trent said. The deaths brought to 32 the number of US soldiers killed since May 1, when the United States declared an end to major combat operations in Iraq.

In other attacks overnight, mortars were fired at us positions in Ramadi, 100 kilometers west of Baghdad, apparently without causing any casualties.
A logistics base near Balad, around 75 kilometers north of the capital, was also hit by mortar fire, leaving one vehicle badly damaged, but with no reports of any killed or wounded.

Residents in the Flashpoint town of Fallujah also said that US positions had come under attack with RPGs and mortars overnight, again without reports of any casualties.
The US military said it was unaware of any incidents in the town, around 50 kilometers west of Baghdad.
