RAIPUR: Naxals on Tuesday set ablaze a total of eight vehicles and machines, engaged in road construction work in Chhattisgarh's Kondagaon district, police said.

No one was reported to be injured in the incident, which occurred this afternoon near Savalvahi village under Iragaon police station limits, Kondagaon Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Singh told PTI.


The construction of road is underway between Churegaon and Savalvahi villages, located over 250 kms away from here, he said.


According to the officer, a group of armed ultras first made the workers leave the spot before torching a total of eight vehicles and machines, including three tractors, a truck and one JCB machine.


After setting ablaze the vehicle and machines, the rebels fled into the?forest, he said.


A police team rushed to the spot, the SP said adding a combing operation is underway to trace the Naxals.
