New Delhi: Last week, Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell faced the ignominy of carrying a broken bat when his willow was put to test against a fiery Umesh Yadav in the third Test in Ranchi.

Maxwell, unbeaten on 82 in his comeback match, faced the first delivery of Day 2 from Yadav. The delivery, which clocked an impressive 137km, hit the upper third of the bat even as Maxwell tried to play a front-foot defensive shot to the ever rising delivery.


Unluckily for Maxwell and kookaburra bat, Yadav's muscle power was too much to handle. The bat was broken into two.

Cricket Australia on Sunday shared an exclusive video of Maxwell doing a post mortem on the bat, and during the course of the examination, the 28-year-old also shared interesting history on that particular bat.

Maxwell went on make a well deserved hundred in the drawn match. The flambouyant cricketer, who was chastised for mocking Indian skipper Virat Kohli's shoulder injury, failed to contribute in the first innings of fourth Test.
