India piled up 364 runs for the loss of four wickets on Day 1 of the 1st Test against West Indies at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot on Thursday.
Follow the highlights from Day 1:
# The Day 1 belonged to 18-year-old Prithvi Shaw. He broke records and joined several elite clubs on his way to a remarkable Test century on debut. Shaw scored 134 runs off 154 balls to become the youngest Indian and the fourth overall to hit a century on Test debut. The Mumbaikar also shared a 206-run with Cheteshwar Pujara (86) for the second-wicket, steering India to a rocker of a start. The West Indies bowlers, who had a lackluster day, managed to slow India's scoring rate after spinner Devendra Bishoo dismissed Shaw on 134 at the brink of Tea. Skipper Virat Kohli (72) then put up a 105-run partnership with Ajinkya Rahane (41) to keep the scoreboard ticking as India scored 364/4 at stumps on Day 1. It was their highest score against West Indies in a day's play. India's previous best was 361/4 at Gros Islet, 2006 (Day 1).

# Half-century!! Skipper Virat Kohli brings up his 20th Test half-century in 99 balls.
# Both Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane are looking comfortable. They have spent some time in the middle now and will look to accelerate as the day progresses. West Indies bowlers Shanon Gabriel and Devendra Bishoo have been the pick of the bowlers. They bowled a tight line after Shaw's wicket and reduced the scoring run-rate but need to pick up wickets at regular wickets. As things stand, India are on course to a massive 1st innings total. India 270/3 after 63 overs.
# Third session is underway

Resuming on 75 (74), Shaw accelerate at a strike rate of over 100 to smash a century (off 99 balls) on debut, becoming the youngest Indian, at 18y, 329d, to score a ton in maiden Test. Shaw also stitched a 206-run partnership with Cheteshwar Pujara (86 off 130) to put India in a comfortable position at Tea. West Indies, on the other hand, had a decent second session. He became the youngest Indian to score a half-century on debut, surpassing a 59-year-old record held by Abbas Ali Baig, 20 years 131 days in 1959. He is also the youngest Test debutant opener after Vijay Mehra, who was 17 years, 265 days in 1955. India 133/1 after 25 overs.

After a long English summer, the World No 1 side are back to their den. India start as favourites against West Indies, who last played white ball cricket in August against Bangladesh. Virat Kohli, who was rested after the England tour, comes back to lead India.
The Indian team, after a dismal 1-4 loss to England, will look to get back to winning ways. India dropped both Murali Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan and roped in Mayank Agarwal and Prithvi Shaw, who earned a maiden-India call up on the back of stunning First-class figures.
Breaking away from their tradition of not speaking about team selection in advance, the Indian team on Wednesday named a 12-man squad a day before the first Test against West Indies in Rajkot.
The 18-year-old Prithvi Shaw, named in the 12-man list, is likely to open alongside KL Rahul in the absence of Shikhar Dhawan. However, Hanuma Vihari, who had scored a half-century and picked up three wickets on debut in the final Test against England in September, along with uncapped Mayank Agarwal was overlooked for the opening Test.
