Delhi Daredevils, one of the weakest franchises in the tournament, are also the worst-affected side in terms of injuries. Quinton de Kock, JP Duminy and Angelo Mathews are all formidable all-rounders and their absence is something which will deeply hurt the Zaheer Khan-led side.

Royal Challengers Bangalore are another outfit, who are marred by several injuries. While Lokesh Rahul has been ruled out of the tournament, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers – two extremely popular players in the tournament – will miss out the team's opening match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Here is a playing XI of all the important players who are struggling with injuries as the tenth season begins:

Quinton de Kock (DD): The swashbuckling left-hander, who has been in prolific form across formats, has been ruled out of the tenth edition due to a finger injury which he suffered during South Africa’s second Test against New Zealand. His injury is a major setback for the Daredevils, who were heavily banking upong him to get them solid starts.

Murali Vijay (KXIP): Vijay, who was recently replaced as Kings XI Punjab skipper by Glenn Maxwell, will undergo wrist surgery and rehabilitation for his left shoulder.

Lokesh Rahul (RCB): The opening batsman looked uncomfortable at times during the Test series against Australia and will undergo a shoulder surgery in London.

Virat Kohli (RCB): The Bangalore skipper, who set the tournament on fire with his scintillating form last year, is likely to miss out on the first few games for his team after he sustained a shoulder injury during the Test series against Australia.

AB de Villiers (RCB): While AB was all set to lead RCB in Kohli's absence, just days ahead of the tournament, he suffered a back injury which ruled him out of a crucial match in a domestic competiiton back home.

JP Duminy (DD): The South African all-rounder, who has been a vital cog in the Daredevils set-up, opted himself out of the tournament due to personal reasons.

Mitchell Marsh (RPS): The Australian all-rounder was ruled out of the competition after he sustained a shoulder injury in the second test in the recently concluded Test series against India.

R Ashwin (RPS): India's premier off-spinner will also miss the entire tournament due to a sports hernia.

Ravindra Jadeja (GL): The ace left arm spinner has been advised rest by a medical team of the BCCI for at least two weeks and may miss the early IPL action.

Sarfaraz Khan (RCB): Talented Bangalore batsman has been ruled out of the tournament due to a leg injury he sustained during a training session just days ahead of the tournament.

Angelo Mathews (DD): The Sri Lankan all-rounder will also miss out on most of the tournament for the Daredevils due to a hamstring injury. SLC is reluctant to release Mathews unless he has fully recovered because they would like him to be available for the Champions Trophy in the UK in June.
