SRH weren't off to the best of starts after making 45 runs in the first 6 overs and Ashwin rightly pointed that out with his tweet.

"6 overs and SRH have made just 45. That's a massive plus for @RPSupergiants on that ground.#IPL2017 #RPSvSRH," Ashwin had tweeted.

As Dhoni helped RPS chase down the target of 177 runs, Ashwin didn't shy away from lauding the former India captain's heroics.

"Champion stuff from @msdhoni , another day at work. The IPL is ready and ripe now. #RPSvSRH," the off-spinner's second tweet read.

There have always been rumours of an apparent rift between the Dhoni and Ashwin but with his tweet, the Indian off-spinner has put all those talks to bed.

Earlier, Ashwin had commented on the difference in captaincy styles of MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. "It's a very energy consuming job and a thankless job. After five years of captaincy, one should take voluntary retirement from it (laughs). I take my hat off to MS Dhoni.

"Virat has just taken over from him and he is a completely different individual. He likes confrontation, he likes to be in the thick of things, he's extremely aggressive."

Dhoni needed two runs from the final delivery but he hit Siddarth Kaul for a boundary as Pune reached 179 for 4 to the wild celebrations of the home supporters at the MCA Stadium.

Dhoni faced 34 deliveries for his unbeaten 61 that included five fours and three sixes.

This was the third win for Pune from six matches and they now have six points.
