Hello and welcome to the live coverage of Match 16 of the 2020 IPL. Today, Shreyas-Iyer led Delhi Capitals will take on Dinesh Karthik`s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the second match of first double header of this season.

  • The two teams have locked horns in a total of 23 matches in the IPL, with KKR winning on 13 occasions and DC emerging victorious in 10 games.
  • Kolkata Knight Riders have clinched the coveted trophy twice (2012,2014), while Delhi Capitals are yet to win the IPL title.

  • WICKET!! A crucial 78-run stand between Eoin Morgan (44) and Rahul Tripathi (31) has come to an end as the England batsman is caught by Shimron Hetmyer at long leg off a Anrich Nortje delivery in the 19th over. KKR 203/7 (19 overs)

  • Eoin Morgan (43) and Rahul Tripathi (30) have brought up a half-century stand for the seventh wicket to keep KKR's hopes alive. The duo has added 47 runs in the last two overs from Marcus Stoinis and Kagiso Rabada, respectively. Stoinis was smashed by Tripathi for three sixes and a boundary before Morgan hammered Rabada for back-to-back three sixes. KKR now need 31 runs from 12 balls. KKR 198/6 (18 overs) 

  • KKR added 20 runs off the previous two overs, including a six and a boundary. Eoin Morgan (23) smashed the second ball of the 16th over from Kagiso Rabada over extra cover for four runs before he hammered the very next delivery to deep midwicket for a maximum.   • WICKET!! Pat Cummins (5) looked to go over cover on the third ball of the 13th over from Anrich Nortje, but ended up handing a low catch to Harshal Patel at third man. KKR 131/6 (14 overs)

Nitish Rana (58) fell soon after scoring his half-century after being caught by substitute fielder Axar Patel at deep midwicket on the fourth ball of the 13th over before skipper Dinesh Karthik (6) was taken by Shikhar Dhawan at mid-off on the very next ball.KKR 118/5 (13 overs)

     
  • FIFTY!! Nitish Rana has brought up his IPL fifty off 32 deliveries. He reached the mark by picking up a single on the fifth ball of the 12th over from Marcus Stoinis.   • WICKET!! KKR have now lost third wicket in their chase of 229-run target. Andre Russell fell cheaply for 13 runs after being caught by Anrich Nortje, who ran from the third man to grab the catch, on the fifth ball of the 10th over from Kagiso Rabada. KKR 94/3 (10 overs)

  • WICKET!! Shubman Gill fell for 28 after being caught by Rishabh Pant behind the stumps on the first ball of the ninth over from Amit Mishra. With this, a 64-run stand between Nitish Rana (34) and Gill.KKR 83/2 (8.5 overs)

  • Kolkata Knight Riders have crossed the 50-run mark in their chase of 229 runs against Delhi Capitals. Shubman Gill (23) slapped the second delivery from Macus Stoinis in the fifth over straight the deep square leg for a boundary before Nitish Rana hammered Harshal Patel for back-to-back boundaries in the next over.   • 27 runs off the last two overs. Nitish Rana (16) sent the second delivery of the third over from Ravichandran Ashwin to mid-wicket stand for a six before lofting the last ball of the over towards the long-on fence for another maximum. In the next over, Shubman Gill (15) hammered the first ball from Anrich Nortje straight to mid off for four runs before hitting the fourth ball over the mid-wicket fence for another boundary.   • 18 runs off the last two overs. Delhi Capitals skipper Shreyas Iyer (8) got off the mark with a single by pushing the third ball of the seventh over from Andre Russell straight to cover. Shaw (41), who is approaching a fifty, lofted a length ball from Shivam Mavi on the fourth delivery of the eighth over inside-out over extra cover for a maximum before Iyer slapped the last ball between the bowler and mid-off for four runs.   • WICKET!! Soon after bringing up a half-century stand with Prithvi Shaw (30), opener Shikhar Dhawan was caught by Eoin Morgan at square leg on the fifth ball of the sixth over from Varun Chakravarthy to depart for 26. DC 57/1 (6 overs)

  • An expensive 13-run over from Pat Cummins before Varun Chakravarthy conceded seven more runs to Delhi Capitals.   • Prithvi Shaw (9) and Shikhar Dhawan (7) have made a decent start for Delhi Capitals as the duo has added 16 runs in the first two overs, including two boundaries. Shaw got off the mark  by tucking the first delivery from Pat Cummins towards deep square leg for a single, while Dhawan cut the very next ball through backward point to open his account with one run as well.   • Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan have walked down the crease to begin Delhi Capitals' innings. Pat Cummins to open the attack for the KKR. 

  • Royal Challengers Bangalore have completed an emphatic 8-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals. They have reached the top of the points table for the time being. Skipper Shreyas Iyer and opener Prithvi Shaw smashed a half-century each to help Delhi Capitals beat Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 18 runs in Match 16 of the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

Asked to bat first, openers Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan provided a perfect start to the Delhi Capitals by stitching a 56-run stand for the first wicket.


After Dhawan fell victim to Varun Chakravarthy's delivery, Shaw (41-ball 66) stitched a 73-run partnership with skipper Shreyas Iyer (unbeaten at 38-ball 88) to help Delhi Capitals post a good score of 228 for four.


In reply, KKR lost openers Shubman Gill (28) and Sunil Narine (three), Sunil Narine (three), Andre Russell (13) amd Karthik (6) failed to click with the bat, while Nitish Rana smashed a quick-fire knock of 58 runs while coming to bat No.3 spot.


Though Eoin Morgan (44) and Rahul Tripathi (36) shared a crucial 78-run stand for the seventh wicket to keep KKR's hopes alive, it was just not enough for the Knight Riders to cross the mark.
