A recharged Kings XI Punjab face the challenge of top-placed Delhi Capitals in the battle of two in-form sides.

Latest Updates

  • Kings XI Punjab have beaten Delhi Capitals by 5 wickets. Just 14 were needed from the final three overs and ultimately it proved to be too easy for Kings XI Punjab, who complete their third game on the trot. KXIP: 167/5 (19 Overs)

Shikhar Dhawan's century has gone in vain, which will disappoint the opener.

  • OUT!! WICKET!! Glenn Maxwell has thrown it away. Right after hitting a huge six against Rabada, he couldn't contain himself and ends up looping the ball straight up. Rishabh Pant takes an acrobatic diving catch. KXIP: 148/5 (16 Overs)

  • Kings XI Punjab need to score at less than 5 runs an over now. A few big overs have gone against the Capitals. Maxwell and Deepak Hooda are now at the crease. 24 needed from 30 balls. KXIP: 141/4 (15 Overs)

  • OUT!! WICKET!! This can be a game changer. Rabada in his second spell removes the dangerous Nicholas Pooran. He had tried to leave it but the ball was too quick and by the time he could drop his shoulders, the ball takes the glove and goes straight to Rishabh Pant. Pooran departs for 53 off just 28 balls. KXIP: 130/4 (13 Overs)

  • Nicholas Pooras has launched a fine counter-attack. He looks like a man on a mission right now. He has raced away to 36 off just 19 balls. He picks up 15 runs from Deshpande's second over and follows it up with a six and a four against Stoinis. KXIP: 101/3 (10 Overs)

  • Another run-out chance goes begging. What are Kings XI doing in there ? He defends the ball against Ashwin and comes straight down the track but Maxwell doesn't move at all. Pooran tries to go back inside but it's a poor throw to keeper Rishabh Pant, who can't complete the run-out. KXIP: 72/3 (8 Overs)

  • OUT!! HUGE WICKETS!! Chris Gayle and Mayank Agarwal depart in the same over. First the very dangerous looking Gayle is bowled by Ashwin and then in the very same over Mayank Agarwal is run-out after miscommunication with Nicholas Pooran. And it looks like Agarwal has injured himself. He hobbled off the field after getting out. What an over. KXIP: 57/3 (6 Overs)

  • WoW. Chris Gayle. That brute strength. He hits 26 runs of Tushar Deshpande's first over. Two sixes and three fours came off that over and this is the universe boss at his very best. KXIP: 50/1 (5 Overs)

  • OUT!! HUGE WICKET!! KL Rahul is gone. The Orange Cap holder is gone. Axar Patel takes the wicket. Rahul tried to go over the top of mid-on against Axar but hands a straight catch to Sams at mid-on. KXIP: 19/1 (3 Overs)

  • Steady start from the seasoned Kings XI duo. Daniel Sams bowls a no-ball in the first over which Rahul graciously accepts with a huge six. The two are vary of Rabada though and safely negotiate his first over. KXIP: 13/0 (2 Overs)

  • KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal will open the Kings XI Punjab innings against Delhi Capitals' Daniel Sams. KXIP: 0/0 (0 Overs)

  • Delhi Capitals have posted a solid total of 164/5. It was ultimately Dhawan single-handely taking Delhi to that total but apart from Dhawan, Kings XI have done wonderfully well. They have pegged Delhi back. Only 7 runs come from the last over. DC: 164/5 (20 Overs)

  • Shikhar Dhawan has scored his second consecutive century. He thus becomes the first ever player to reach such a feat. He is making a joke of the 20 over format. He does so with a double against Arshdeep. Reaches the mark in 57 balls. DC: 157/4 (19 Overs)

  • OUT!! Shami has Stoinis. Shami returns in his second spell to remove the dangerous Marcus Stoinis. It was a rising full toss but Stoinis makes a mess of it and Agarwal completes the catch. DC: 145/4 (18 Overs)

  • Shikhar Dhawan is into the 80's now. He has raced away and played the KXIP spinners beautifully with some fantastic slog sweeps. He has been a rock for Delhi. He is taking on Ravi Bishnoi and Ashwin. The spinners have no answers to his brilliance. DC: 126/3 (16 Overs)

  • OUT!! WICKET!! Rishabh Pant is gone. He came down the track against Glenn Maxwell and tried to castle one over the top but mistimes it and Mayank Agarwal takes an easy catch at long-on. DC: 108/3 (14 Overs)

  • Shikhar Dhawan hits a fantastic slog sweep for six against Ravi Bishnoi to make his intentions clear after two good overs for KXIP. Rishabh Pant is just happy to rotate the strike at the moment. DC: 103/2 (13 Overs)

  • Rishabh Pant is the new man in, He has been sent in early to get set early on then go big at the death. This is a good strategy from the Capitals' management. Dhawan, meanwhile, has gone from strength to strength and is now playing as the sheet anchor. These two left-handers need to stick around till the end. Maxwell and Bishnoi are now operating the bowling. DC: 90/2 (11 Overs)

  • OUT!! WICKET!! Huge wicket! Skipper Shreyas Iyer is out caught behind to Murugan Ashwin. This is a very soft dismissal. The ball was going down the leg side and Iyer tried to flick it. The ball takes a faint edge and KL Rahul completes a brilliant caught behind. He falls for 14. DC: 74/2 (9 Overs)

  • Shikhar Dhawan has raced away to 45 off just 26 balls and is playing smart cricket here. Ever since the powerplay ended, he has stopped going over the top. Skipper Shreyas Iyer is playing second fiddle to him. DC: 68/1 (8 Overs)

  • Shikhar Dhawan is looking very good. He hits three fours off Shami's second over although he is very lucky as one of them took a thick edge and raced away to four. Iyer, meanwhile, started off with a brilliant six right after Dhaw's dIsmissal. DC: 53/1 (6 Overs)

  • OUT!! WICKET!! Prithvi Shaw's dismal run continues. He is dismissed by Jimmy Neesham. It was a horrendous shot from Prithi and he pays the price. It was a wide ball at good length and Shaw heaves at it but the ball takes a thick inside edge and goes straight up. Maxwell takes an easy catch at extra cover. DC: 32/1 (4 Overs)

  • Good start for the Capitals. Dhawan is in very fine touch and is timing the ball perfectly - he comes down the track and goes over the covers against youngster Arshdeep Singh. Shaw is struggling a bit and is looking edgy, coming into the game on the back of two ducks on the trot. DC: 25/0 (3 Overs)

  • Wonderful start from Delhi. Shikhar Dhawan hits a four and then a brilliant six against Maxwell. Why didn't Kings XI start off with Shami against Shaw who has been dismissed early in his previous two innings ? DC: 13/0 (1 Over)

  • Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw will open the innings for Delhi Capitals. Glenn Maxwell will open the bowling for Kings XI Punjab. DC: 0/0 (0 Overs)

  • One change for KXIP: They have brought in Jimmy Neesham in place of Chris Jordan.

Unless Jordan is injured, this is a poor decision. Kings XI need Jordan's expertise at the death.

  • Delhi Capitals playing XI: PP Shaw, S Dhawan, SS Iyer (C), RR Pant, SO Hetmyer, MP Stoinis, AR Patel, R Ashwin, K Rabada, DR Sams, TU Deshpande

Kings XI Punjab playing XI: KL Rahul (C), MA Agarwal, CH Gayle, N Pooran, GJ Maxwell, JDS Neesham, DJ Hooda, M Ashwin, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh

  • Delhi Capitals have made three changes!

Rishabh Pant, Shemron Hetmyer and Daniel Sams come into the playing XI. They have replaced Alex Carey, Ajinkya Rahane and Anrich Nortje respectively.

We wonder why Nortje is replaced. We can only assume that he is either injured or rested.

  • Delhi Capitals have won the toss and will bat first against Kings XI Punjab.

Kings XI Punjab have beaten Delhi Capitals by 5 wickets.

Earlier, Delhi Capitals have won the toss and opted to bat first. Capitals posted 164/5 thanks to Shikhar Dhawan's second consecutive century, becoming the first player in IPL history to do so.

After their thrilling Super-Over win, recharged Kings XI face top-placed Delhi Capitals, who have emerged as the strongest contenders in the tournament so far with their sheer consistency.

Kings XI Punjab have finally seen a tremendous turnaround in fortunes and have won their last two games on the trot against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians. We are still catching our breath from the first ever second Super Over in IPL history in which Kings XI Punjab finally emerged victorious.

Kings XI fought their hearts out and got the crucial two points. From here on, they have to win every single match to reach the IPL playoffs. Their opening duo of skipper KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal currently occupy the top two spots in the race for the Orange Cap.

Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, have a completely different tale. They, along with Mumbai Indians, have been the strongest contenders of the tournament thus far. In their last outing against CSK, Shikhar Dhawan scored his maiden IPL ton while all-rounder Axar Patel hit three sixes in Ravindra Jadeja’s last over to take his side to a thrilling victory.

Almost all of Capitals’ players are in good form with their pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada wearing the Purple Cap with 19 wickets to his name. While Rishabh Pant’s hamstring injury came as a setback for them, they will now be boosted by the star wicket-keeper’s return.

It must be noted that the last time these two sides met – the match went into the Super Over, in what was just the second game of IPL 2020. Thus, with the two in-form squads, this one promises to be a roller-coaster ride.
