Earlier this month, the former Pakistan captain said that he will retire from international cricket after the upcoming Test series in the West Indies.

"I will be retiring... With my head held high. I think this is the right time as every sportsman has to take this decision in his career," he had said.

But rumours of a probable extension of his career on team's request started doing the rounds. To clarify the confusion, the 39-year-old released the video.

"A lot has been said about my retirement from cricket that maybe Younis wants to keep on playing Test cricket which is absolutely not true," Younis said in the video message released on the second day of the first Test in Kingston.

"I had announced my retirement with a plan, with honour after thinking and according to my wish."

"Even if there was any thought of continuing, I am still a Pakistani. I play for Pakistan, not for neighbours India. And there should not be any controversy," he added.

Younis, who has led Pakistan in all three formats and guided them to their only World Twenty20 title in England in 2009, needs only 23 runs to reach 10,000 Test runs.

"The question that was asked to me, what my answer was and what version went out, I don't want to go in detail. Younis Khan will retire even if he scores a hundred in every innings of every match against West Indies. Please don't doubt Younis Khan's credibility and support Pakistan. Pray for Younis Khan and for Pakistan that we can win a Test series for the very first time in West Indies," he added.

Younis, thus, joined teammate Misbah-ul-Haq in retiring from international cricket at the end of the tour of the West Indies in April and May.

He has so far scored 34 Test centuries in 115 matches -- the most by any batsman from the country -- and is set to become the first Pakistani and 13th batsman in the world to score 10,000 or more runs.

He has so far accumulated 9977 runs at an average of 53.06. India's Sachin Tendulkar currently tops the charts with 15,921 runs in 200 matches.
